The SEP will give a 7.5% increase to teachers who earn less, announces Delfina Gómez

It is a staggered increase of 3%, 2% and 1% for teachers who receive salaries of less than 20,000 pesos, “benefiting the highest percentage to those who receive the least income,” explained the secretary.

The average increase will be 7.5% for teachers with incomes of less than 20,000 pesos, who will receive an approximate monthly income of 14,300 pesos.

Gómez indicated that the federal government is allocating 25 million pesos to strengthen teachers’ salaries.

“For many it may be a lot, for many it may be little, but when we see the joyful face of the teachers who receive a raise and that by right corresponds to them and who have fought not a year or two, they have sometimes fought up to 20 years. ”, said the Secretary of Public Education.

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador indicated that the official announcement will be made during the ‘morning’ conference this Monday by the Secretary of the Treasury, Rogelio Ramírez de la O.
