The United States government has not sent formal invitations to the Summit of the Americas to be held in Los Angeles in June, Foreign Secretary Marcelo Ebrard said yesterday, so there is still no final decision on whether the president Andrés Manuel López Obrador will attend California or not.
The foreign minister was in Durango, where he showed his support for the gubernatorial candidate for the Together We Make History coalition, Marina Vitela.

Ebrard, who traveled as a citizen, posted a photo on social media where he can be seen raising his hand to the candidate.
“I thank Marina Vitela for her invitation to Durango this morning -yesterday- to share the international vision of Mexico, the link with the Durango community in the United States, as well as the economic dialogue with that country,” said the head of Foreign Affairs in a message on his Twitter account.
Ebrard stated, in interviews with local media, that the final decision on whether or not President López Obrador will attend the Summit will be made when the invitations are received.
Only the decision made by the United States remains to be seen or resolved. He already said that if they don’t go (Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua), he won’t. But the United States has not yet sent out the invitations. I mean, we still don’t know if they’re going to be invited.
