The Ministry of Health reported 4,413 new cases of Covid-19 in Chile, with a positivity rate of 7.99% in the last 24 hours nationwide, after carrying out 55,302 PCR tests and antigen tests.
According to the health authority, the variation of new confirmed cases at the national level is 40% and 40% for the comparison of seven and 14 days, respectively. Meanwhile, a region decreases its cases in the last seven days and three in the last 2 weeks.
Of the total number of new cases, 34% are diagnosed by antigen test, 41% originate from Active Case Search (BAC) and 21% of those reported are asymptomatic. Regarding the Metropolitan Region, it presents 28% due to antigen, 32% due to BAC and 14% of the notified cases are asymptomatic.
According to sample collection, the regions with the highest positivity in the last week are the Metropolitan, Valparaíso, O Higgins and Magallanes.
Meanwhile, the Metropolitan region has the highest current incidence rate per 100 thousand inhabitants, followed by the regions of Valparaíso, Magallanes and Atacama.
According to today’s report, of the 4,413 new cases of Covid-19, 2,492 correspond to symptomatic people and 652 do not present symptoms. In addition, 1,269 Positive PCR tests were registered that were not notified.
The total number of people who have been diagnosed with the virus in the country reaches 3,600,896. Of that total, 17,149 patients are in the active stage. The recovered cases are 3,525,898.
As for deaths, according to the information provided by the DEIS, in the last 24 hours there were 17 deaths from causes associated with the coronavirus. The total number of deceased amounts to 57,714 in the country.
To date, 163 people are hospitalized in Intensive Care Units, of which 118 are supported by mechanical ventilation. In relation to the Integrated Health Network, there are a total of 340 critical beds available for the patient who requires it, regardless of the region where they are located.
Regarding the Laboratory Network and diagnostic capacity, the results of 55,302 PCR tests and antigen tests were reported yesterday, reaching a total of 37,637,293 analyzed nationwide to date. The positivity for the last 24 hours at the country level is 7.99% and in the Metropolitan Region it is 12.08%.
Regarding the Sanitary Residences, there are 27 accommodation facilities, with a total of 2,343 beds. The actual occupation at the national level is 35%, leaving a total of 1,162 beds available for use.
