Journalists, women, but above all mothers

Journalists, women, but above all mothers

Balancing work and professional life is always difficult. It can even become more chaotic during the journey of being a mother. Professionals Mercedes Barriocanal, better known as Menchi and Pelusa Rubín, shared with the El Independiente team what this beautiful process of positioning themselves in their respective areas was like while maintaining warmth and love in their homes for their children.

Today marks Mother’s Day in our country, “The Paraguayan woman is the most glorious in America” Pope Francis once commented when naming Paraguay. To this we must add that the Paraguayan mother is even more glorious, always dedicated to her family and also a capable professional who fights to break down the barriers that still revolve around the female figure.

Menchi told us about the process to find a way to cope with the weight of being a communicator and thus also a mother who always tries to be close to her daughters. “It is never easy to carry out both roles. Being a mother and at the same time consolidating a professional career requires enormous doses of energy and dedication”, she affirmed.

Still, she always tries not to distract herself from the enormous responsibility of raising her three daughters in an environment of harmony and peace. Although achieving it is always a real challenge, today a feeling of satisfaction invades her when she sees them empathic, tolerant and committed.

The journalist is the mother of Montserrat, Alejandra and Guadalupe. “They have known how to build their own paths and today it fills me with pride to see them. They are honest, committed and happy women”, she highlights.

Likewise, the journalist Pelusa Rubín considered that her profession prevented or limited her presence in very important events due to its nature, events of national relevance do not respect holidays or calendars.

“Being a mother is a task that implies a lot of responsibility. When they were little I had peaks of stress but they never lacked love”, acknowledges Pelusa, mother of four children; Ezequiel, Emmanuel, Laura and Lucia.

Taking into account all the effort and sacrifices made, Pelu affirms that the message that she seeks to transmit and always leave engraved in the memory of her children is; “They must be honest, sincere, hard-working and love their neighbor.”

This same query was made to Menchi, who recalled the legacy left and that she continues to receive from her mother, “She transmitted to me values that have served as a guide and support in my life, values that I have also tried to pass on to my daughters as an inheritance. family that endures and sustains us”.

LISTEN TO THE CONSTRUCTIVE
Social networks are a double-edged sword. Although it represents freedom of expression and free democracy, it can also be used as a weapon through cruel words that hit and hurt people, even more so those who are exposed to the public eye.

Pelu explained that he absorbs all those constructive comments that really seek to leave something good, he takes them with gratitude and seeks to grow. So well, those who hide bad intentions and aggression let them pass by. He still stressed that people have the need to express themselves and be heard.

For her part, Menchi maintained that defending and making visible the rights of all human beings, without discrimination of any kind, places her on the correct side of history, for which the aggression only reinforces the objective she maintains.
