In a joint action with the Civil Police, auditors from the Federal Revenue Service seized on Friday night (13), about 80 kilos of pure cocaine at a farm in the municipality of Itaguaí, in the metropolitan region of Rio de Janeiro.
Along with the drug, the police seized a diving equipment, known as sea scootera type of engine used to displace divers when at the bottom of the sea.
According to investigations by the Civil Police, cocaine was purchased in producing countries in Latin America and resold in Europe. The material was transported on the bottom of ships’ hulls, in an attempt to circumvent customs control at the ports of Rio de Janeiro.
The work was carried out by the Division of Surveillance and Repression of Contraband and Embezzlement of the Federal Revenue Service of Brazil in the 7th Fiscal Region, which encompasses the states of Rio and Espírito Santo, and by the Police Department for Repression of Narcotics of the Civil Police of the State of Rio de Janeiro. .
