Since he returned from Brazil, Mayor Rómulo Cayllahua has shown no signs of being in good health, according to various city council members. Provincial Municipality of Huancavelica.
In an interview with Correo, the councilor of Huancavelica Elsa Benavente Salazar affirmed that five aldermen signed a letter addressed to the mayor’s office to schedule an extraordinary session in order to report the situation of the commune due to the permanent absence of the authority, based on article 13 of the Organic Law of Municipalities.
In the last session, they also requested the convening of an extraordinary session and they agreed to convene the said extraordinary session, but what is known about the state of health of Mayor Rómulo Cayllahua?
“We have also heard that his state of health is delicate, he has been there for more than two months, I think he is going for a third, leaving orders, that is, the time was exceeded, because of that we made the request,” said Benavente Salazar.
He limited: “Whenever the mayor was there, he came with his bodyguard, he was outside taking care of it; what happens in recent weeks is that when the bodyguard is there and when someone, including the aldermen, wants to talk to the mayor, we see him, the mayor is supposed to be there and they tell us that he is in an office, or in a meeting or that he has moved offices, the concrete thing is that no one has seen him, to disguise the bodyguard. This confirms that the mayor’s state of health is very delicate and he is here for a while”.
It should be noted that the union leader Wilfredo Hilario Quispe broke into the mayor’s office during a Civil Construction protest, stated for the media that he saw the mayor sitting in his office, that he did not even say hello, and that he looked very delicate in health.
Congressman Alfredo Pariona also arrived during his last week of representation to the commune to verify the presence of the mayor and, not finding him, left a control document in which he requested information on the days of rest and vacations requested by the mayor.
In his turn, the municipal manager, Alexander García Palma, confirmed that the state of health of the mayor is delicate, but that he is already in better health and is already dispatching to the mayor’s office.

“The mayor has been a bit delicate in health, he has recovered, and is carrying out his activities with total normality, he always has some restrictions for which the doctors indicated that he can still be in charge of the Municipality and with that we want to end the speculations that he was dying or in very poor health, as has been verified by councilors and some authorities such as the prosecutor who have come to the municipality, “said García Palma.
The official stated that the mayor’s illness was due to the fact that he had suffered a “strong shock” that had affected his nervous system and would have left him with health problems and affected his speech, which would have restricted him.
He clarified that he does not currently have medical rest and that he has been performing his functions normally.
The councilors who signed the request are Elsa Benavente Salazar, Freddy Cencia De la Cruz, Cancio Inga García, Yovana Quispe Paytan and Juan Zanabria Olarte.
However, when Correo Huancavelica requested an interview with Cayllahua Paytán, what councilor Elsa Benavente said happened, the mayor’s secretary told us that he was not there and coordinated with the municipal manager so that he would attend us.
