Sisters Luciana and Mariana Aguilera Collazos ran the risk of not participating in the South American and Latin American Bicicross (BMX), which will take place in Lima, Peru, from June 4 to 5. The athletes did not have the tickets to attend these eventsbut in the last hours everything took a 180 degree turn.
From the Vice Ministry of Sports they contacted his parents to support them with the tickets, but they were surprised because the tickets had already been purchased.
“I had to lend myself money to buy the tickets in advance to ensure the presence of my daughters in Peru. The purchase of the tickets was made in the name of the Departmental Sports Service for subsequent reimbursement,” said Mario ‘Rocky’ Aguilera, father and coach of the athletes.
In this situationthe Vice Ministry of Sports promised to support the youngest of the sisters, Mariana, who is runner-up in the world, to attend the BMX World Championship, which will take place in France, between July 20 and 21, where she will try to become champion in the 12-year-old category.
“It was made public that the athletes were not receiving support from the Vice Ministry of Sports to travel to Peru, but no request was made, that’s why we contacted his mom and we found out that they already had tickets, so we agreed to support one of them (Mariana) with the tickets, so that she can go to the World Cup in France,” said Martín Michel, head of High Performance at the Vice Ministry of Sports.
The father of the cyclists explained that it is the Bolivian Cycling Federation that must make the arrangements with the Vice Ministry, because that is the regular conduit, but the response he always received from the leadership is that there are no resources.
Mariana and Luciana are multiple champions departmental, national and international, and its budget to compete in Peru is around 1,500 dollars taking into account tickets, lodging and food. His trip to the neighboring country is scheduled for May 30.
