Santo Domingo commitment to cultural and heritage tourism with the Colonial city as the main attraction, and relaunches its promotion strategy with news about its hotel offer, its cultural and tourist attractions and its revitalization plans at the fair DATE 2022leading event for the commercialization of the tourist product of Dominican Republicwhere important negotiations are held annually between travel agents, tour operators, specialized groups and the main suppliers of the national tourism sector, which is held this week in Barceló Bávaro Convention Center in Punta Cana.

“In terms of gastronomy, this colonial enclave has some of the best proposals in the city, from the outstanding expression of local cuisine in Jalao, Buche Perico and Valiente, the eclectic fusion cuisine of Nácan and Maraca and the innovative vegetarian food of TIME, to the daily dish of the day in traditional establishments such as Petrus, D’Comer Colonial and others”, he added.
When night begins to fall, you begin to feel the vibe of nightlife in its streets, micro theaters and bars, where there is an atmosphere for all tastes: Rock & Roll in Caciba or Proud Mary; Latin music, at Parada 77 or El Sartén; electronic music at Local Colonial, or musical and dance experiences such as what is experienced every Sunday in front of the majestic San Francisco Ruins with the Bonyé group and its mix of jazz, merengue and son. At the press conference during the event, Arch. Amin Abel Santos, General Coordinator of the Colonial City Tourism and Urban Development Program, financed by the Inter-American Development Bank and executed by the Ministry of Tourism, emphasized the work that are carried out to revitalize the historic center of Santo Domingo in its urban, economic and cultural tourism aspects.
He stressed that “among other activities and renovation works, new cultural attractions will be added, such as a tour of the walls and new museum proposals in the Alcázar de Colón, Fortaleza de Santo Domingo and in the museums of the Casas Reales and the Cathedral, as well as diverse activities of cultural animation”.
