The Blue and White National Unity (Unab) sued the member countries of the Organization of American States (OAS) that they act with “greater force” because the decision of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo “has exceeded all limits of tolerance, seriousness and urgency. It must be assessed by the foreign ministers of the continent as soon as possible.
“It cannot wait for the October General Assembly in Lima. We urge the Permanent Council to take the forcefulness that the facts warrant, otherwise a bad precedent is set that leaves this and any other diplomatic representation in Nicaragua exposed to the fact that their rights, according to the agreements of the Vienna Convention, are violated, ” points out the opposition organization in a statement released this Friday, May 13.

This day, the Permanent Council of the OAS approved the resolution “The seizure of the OAS offices in Nicaragua” where they demand the return of the headquarters in Managua that was expropriated by the dictatorship of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo on April 24. .
“Resolution CP/doc.5780/22, approved this afternoon… (by) more than two thirds of countries in the hemisphere condemn the authoritarian and outlaw course that the dictatorship is taking us on. We salute this new milestone in the recovery of our democracy and our freedom, “says the document.
“We consider that this resolution is insufficient. The seriousness of the assault on the OAS offices in Nicaragua is unprecedented in the Organization’s 74-year history,” he adds.
Burlesque regime
The Unab explains that the expropriation and seizure of the OAS is a “cheeky and even burlesque disdain of the illegitimate government” of Ortega that does not respect the inviolability, immunities and privileges, despite the fact that the State of Nicaragua has signed several international instruments and an agreement bilateral.
“The OAS offices in Managua actually belong to all the member states. What happened on April 24 affects not only the General Secretariat, but also each and every one of the 34 countries of the hemisphere that make up the OAS. This requires stronger and exemplary measures, which necessarily lead to convening a consultation meeting of foreign ministers in accordance with article 61 of the OAS Charter, “says Unab.
