Officials from the Public Ministry and members of the Association of Judges of Paraguay (AJP), marched from the Public Ministry to the Pantheon of Heroes on Friday afternoon. This, to demand justice in the attack that ended the life of prosecutor Marcelo Pecci in Cartagena, Colombia, on the morning of Tuesday, May 10.
“The strength of Marcelo Pecci will be part of the institution, now we will be stronger,” said prosecutor Liliana Alcaraz.
“With this march, with our presence, we are going to say that we are here to continue. If they are going to take one away from us, we are going to see 100 more prosecutors who are going to fight,” said the deputy prosecutor Alba Rocío Cantero for the web portal Cuarto Intermedio.
The Association of Judges of Paraguay (AJP), was also part of the mobilization. Through a statement released on networks, they expressed that organized crime has crossed all limits and that lukewarmness can no longer be accepted to combat this scourge.
“Each one of us, judges and judges, must act in accordance with the law, without exceptions of any kind. The nation forces us to say if we are on the right side or not, without gray areas”, reads part of the note.

On the other hand, another demonstration was called on the Costanera de Asunción. Dino Aguilera, Marcelo Pecci’s former classmate and member of the Colegio San José Alumni Association, was one of the organizers and stated that they will also march towards the Pantheon of Heroes.
