Friday (13) was golden for Alison dos Santos, 21, from São Paulo, who won the 400 meters hurdles event in Doha, Qatar, and as a result took the lead in the world rankings. The race in Doha is part of the first stage of the Diamond League 2022, the main circuit of the World Athetics (International Athletics Federation).
Bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics, the Brazilian was 25 hundredths faster than the second place, the North American Rai Bejamim, silver in Tokyo. Also known by the nickname Piu, Alison completed the course in 47s24, Benjamin in 47s49, and Irishman Thomas Barr, third place, in 47s38.

In the second consecutive triumph in the 400m hurdles in less than 15 days, Piu managed to lower the race time by more than a second. On the last day 30, he went gold in the traditional Meeting Drake Relaysin the city of Des Moines, Iowa (United States), with a time of 48.41.
With this Friday’s performance (13), in Doha, Alison overtook North American Kallifah Rosser (48.26) from the world rankings. The Brazilian holds the third best mark in the history of the event – a time of 46.72 obtained in Tokyo – and remains one of the main names in national athletics for the Paris 2024 Games.
Alison returns to compete on May 28, in another stage of the Diamond League, in the city of Eugene, in the state of Oregon (United States).
