As the investigation progresses, details of how prosecutor Marcelo Pecci was murdered on a beach in Barú, Cartagena, are becoming known.
The Colombian newspaper El Universal, he recounted what the crime was of the public prosecutor Pecci in Cartagena.
According to the report, on Tuesday, May 10, Pecci planned to return with his wife Claudia Aguilera to our country in the afternoon. “Very early in the morning they went down to the beach to sunbathe and bathe, and they stayed there until around 9:30 a.m. At that time, Marcelo began to collect things because they had to return to the hotel to pack their bags and do the “check out” before noon”, says the article.
The publication includes statements by Commissioner Nimio Cardozo, head of Anti-Kidnapping of the National Police, who traveled to Colombia to accompany the investigation. In this regard, the police chief commented that prosecutor Pecci was with his back to the sea when the gunmen appeared on a jet ski and one of them shot him. “He received a bullet in the face and two in the trunk,” he said.
Cardozo added that Pecci was shot with a 9-millimeter pistol, specifying that three shell casings of that caliber were found at the crime scene, with which they are going to establish whether that weapon had been used in another crime. He also specified that the gunmen took 13 minutes to rent the jet ski, commit the murder and return it.
According to the investigations that are being carried out, Cardozo considers that Pecci’s murder was not perpetrated in Cartagena, where the couple spent two days (Thursday, May 5 and Friday, May 6), because there are many security cameras in the streets. “The people who planned the attack knew about that and about all the security in the hotel, and they were clear that they could only get to Pecci by water, because it is open sea,” he said.
It should be remembered that through a video, the investigators try to identify two subjects who arrived at the tourist location and paid 200,000 Colombian pesos to rent a jet ski for 30 minutes in Playa Blanca. One of them was wearing a black diving sweater, black shorts, a hat and goggles; the other wore a white T-shirt, a life jacket, a hat, and sunglasses.
One of the assassins who participated in the homicide is a man 1.74 meters tall, with dark skin and a Caribbean accent. “He can be from a person from Colombia or from another Caribbean country,” they highlighted from the Colombian Police.
