They promote the campaign "I am not alone" to prevent and reduce violence against women

After the increase in violence against women in Nicaragua, the Nicaraguan Union for Corporate Social Responsibility (uniRSE) has launched, for the third consecutive year, the initiative “I am not alone” in order to accompany women victims of violence.

“I am not alone” arose from the lack of attention and government response to address this type of case. The campaign is accompanied by Claro Nicaragua, facilitating communication and connectivity services to expose these types of events or seek help.

Martha Flores, coordinator of Catholics for the Right to Decide, told the team of Article 66 that the feminist organization is part of the “I am not alone” initiative, which it describes as “excellent” because Nicaraguan women “are more unprotected and helpless every day with the political situation” that persists in the country.

“We are part of it and since 2020 we have been working with the line “I am not alone”. (…) It is a very good initiative, we know that women are more unprotected every day and completely helpless with the political situation we are experiencing, “explained Flores.

It is worth mentioning that around 34 organizations that worked to defend women’s rights have been outlawed by the Daniel Ortega regime. With this action of the dictatorship, it leaves women in a situation of greater vulnerability, exposure to violence and the violation of their fundamental rights, affirm feminist entities.

“This line has favored several women from all departments and it is a great initiative because we are working together, it is a line where the support is,” added the feminist activist.

The initiative has a team of psychologists with experience in the subject, they promote a protocol to follow up and coordinate that women are referred to centers or clinics that voluntarily collaborate with this initiative.

«From “I am not alone” we prevent and assist women victims of violence where they call us and are assisted online. With the initiative we help reduce and save the lives of women, “said Martha Flores.

“This country needs a lot and not only that line “I am not alone”, but more things, more initiatives, since we are facing a situation of violence that aggravates women,” she insisted.
