Government of Minas opens public consultation on highway concession

The Company Office Chérifien des Phosphates (OCP), from Morocco, intends to install a phosphate production unit in Brazil. This Thursday (22), a delegation of members of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply met with representatives of the Moroccan state-owned fertilizer company, which is the second largest producer of the product in the world. The meeting took place in Rabat, capital of Morocco. Moroccan fertilizer company to expand operations in Brazil

According to the ministry, the Moroccan company’s intention to expand contributes to the National Fertilizer Plan, launched in March to stimulate national production of phosphate and compensate for the lack of the product due to the war between Russia and Ukraine, countries that are also between the world’s largest fertilizer producers.

In the opinion of the Minister of Agriculture, Marcos Montes, the company’s vision is in synergy with Brazil’s goals for sustainability and global food security.

“We have this joint responsibility, both this company, which owns the largest phosphate reserve in the world, and Brazil, which has an extension of land and strong scientific technology to produce food for the world”, said Montes.

Morocco has around 70% of the world’s phosphate rock reserves and is the biggest supplier of phosphorus to Brazil. The Moroccan state-owned company has been operating in Brazil since 2010 and has seven offices in the country.
