The CDMX government proposes to modify urban advertising mechanisms

The CDMX government proposes to modify urban advertising mechanisms

The argument of the rule

The bill argues that in recent years the installation of metal structures on the roofs of houses has proliferated, which represents a risk not only for those who live there, but also for the adjoining neighbors.

“Which implies an increase in weight on the structure and the foundations of the buildings that was not foreseen at the time of the preparation of the construction projects, which generates a risk of possible collapse,” reads the bill.

It ensures that the risk of a major incident increases given the seismicity that CDMX presents, strong gusts of wind and extraordinary meteorological events, in addition to contributing to visual pollution and less visibility of the natural environment of the city.

What does he propose in return?

In an interview, Rafael Gómez Cruz, head of the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing (Seduvi) explained that those companies dedicated to advertising that have rooftop spaces will not have their concession revoked, so they must explore new business models. safe advertising and where other spaces are used.

“We have the case of the Sepomex (Mexican Postal Service) mailboxes that have revocable temporary administrative permits and have advertising space but are currently in disuse, so we have to encourage that the furniture or real estate that already has permission can be used,” he explained. .

He considered that the city no longer needs large advertisements, but that more people can be reached in non-invasive spaces that do not put society at risk. “It’s doing more and reaching more people. With less space, creativity is encouraged,” she said.
