Dajabón.- Haitian citizens of the town of Mirebalais threatened to burn the city, if in the next few hours the armed group 400 Mawozo does not release a woman kidnapped by the gang, along with eight Turks and a Dominican.
A man who claimed to live in the town said that Yveka Sylvestre has no money to pay a ransom, and that what little she did have was used to care for her mother, who recently underwent surgery to remove breast cancer.

The woman was traveling on the bus that was hijacked by the armed gang last Sunday, and reportedly was working as an interpreter for a group of Muslim missionaries, whose organization teaches Arabic language courses in Haiti.
“We ask for his release as soon as possible, because if this does not happen, the town will burn the entire city,” a man told several media outlets present in the area.
Among the kidnapped is a Dominican, who was driving the bus that transported the Turks from Santo Domingo to Port-au-Prince.
Some affirm that a dozen people were traveling on the bus, but Haitian media assure that there were nine with Sylvestre, plus the driver of the vehicle.
The Muslim organization to which the Turks belong was identified as Ashape.
Security
Despite the kidnapping of the Turks and a Dominican, security at the border continued normal with the entry and exit of Haitians and Dominicans through the border gates of Elías Piña and Dajabón in the afternoon hours this Wednesday.
It transpired that the surveillance posts in charge of two soldiers had been reinforced by two other soldiers from the Specialized Land Border Security Corps (Cesfront).
