Venezuela rejects murder of Palestinian journalist by Israeli army

Venezuela expressed this Wednesday its dismay and rejection of the murder of the Al Jazeera journalist, Shireen Abu Akleh, after being shot in the head while covering a new confrontation between Israeli security forces in the city of Jenin, in the occupied West Bank.

“We express our consternation, pain and rejection on behalf of the government and the people of Venezuela, for the murder of the Al Jazeera journalist Shirin Abu Akleh, by a bullet fired by the Israeli army in the Jenin refugee camp, in the West Bank. Occupied”, said the Foreign Minister of the Republic, Félix Plasencia, through his Twitter account.

Plasencia, on behalf of the Bolivarian government and the Venezuelan people, sent the most sincere “condolences and respect to the family, friends and co-workers of Shireen Abu Akleh for this unjustified and painful loss.”

Likewise, he reaffirmed Venezuela’s commitment and support “to the dissemination of the truth of our peoples and of the Palestinian Cause.”

“We reaffirm our irreducible commitment and support for the dissemination of the truth of our peoples and of the Palestinian Cause,” he remarked.

Both the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) and the leadership of Al Jazeera in Qatar blamed the Israeli army for the journalist’s death, while the Israeli government justified the action in light of the Palestinian threat.

According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health and the Red Crescent, the 51-year-old journalist was shot dead by Israeli security forces, who also reportedly wounded another journalist, Ali Samudi, in the back. who works for the Palestinian outlet Al Quds and whose condition is stable.
