The president of the Permanent Assembly of Human Rights of Bolivia (Apdhb), Amparo Carvajal, sent a letter to the Minister of Government, Eduardo del Castillo, in which he asks why he is not allowed to enter the country’s prisons.
On Thursday, he arrived at the Miraflores prison in order to visit former president Jeanine Añez and deliver some food to the inmates, but they did not allow him to enter.
In this context, Carvajal sent a letter to Del Castillo on Friday in which he asks for a hearing to discuss the matter.

“I ask your authority for a hearing in order to find the reason why they do not allow me to enter the prisons of our country to attend to different cases,” the note reports.
In this context, he revealed: “what those in charge of the prisons tell me is that their person as the highest authority does not authorize me to enter the penitentiary centers.”
It is not the first time that the activist has been prevented from entering. On previous occasions she had denounced a similar treatment.
