Judge Olmedo Arrocha will review the complaint for the loss of 9,412 books from the library of the National Institute

The magistrate of the Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ), Olmedo Arrocha, was appointed rapporteur for a Habeas Data filed by the university professor and writer, Illeana Golcher against the director of Patrimonial Assets of the Ministry of Education, (Meduca), Aníbal Stanziola for the Loss of 9,412 books from the Eusebio A. Morales School public library of the National Institute.

Golcher presented as evidence photographs of the library of the National Institute where the empty shelves are, the broken showcases, in addition to the letters sent to the Meduca requesting details about the whereabouts of the books and the files that remained in the monument to the cultural heritage of the country.

He indicated that he was struck by the fact that no professor from the National Institute did not speak out about the disappearance of these books. “If a teacher isn’t interested in a library being open, closed, damaged, books disappearing, that’s unbelievable and sad,” Golcher said.

“I do not know here that books are stolen but where are those books, that 10 thousand books disappear, that is an unusual case,” he said.

He added that 50 days ago he sent a note to the director of Patrimonial Assets in which he asked for an explanation about the disappearance of the National Institute’s books, and to date he has not received a response.
