Inflation for lower-income families stands at 1.04%

Ipea analyzes impact of legislative proposals for the credit market

The National Consumer Price Index (INPC), which measures inflation for families with an income of up to five times the minimum wage, registered a rate of 1.04% in April this year, the highest variation for a month of April since 2003 (1.38 %). In March of this year, the rate was 1.71%.Inflation for lower-income families stands at 1.04%

According to data released today (11) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), in April, the INPC was below official inflation, measured by the Broad National Consumer Price Index (IPCA), which registered a rate of 1 .06%.

In the 12-month period, however, the INPC reached 12.47%, above the 12.13% calculated by the IPCA.

In April, food products had an inflation of 2.26%, while non-food products registered a rate of 0.66%.
