Santo Domingo.- The Technical Secretariat for Food and Nutrition Sovereignty and Security (Setessan) held, together with the World Food Program (WFP)its second coordination meeting with the country’s food systems working coalitions.
For the meeting, the actions proposed in the National Roadmap towards a Sustainable, Resilient and Equitable Food System, which is based on the five lines of action of the Food Systems Summitheld in September 2021.
The executive director for Food and Nutrition Sovereignty and Security, Rolando-Blanco-Peraltahighlighted the importance of honoring the commitment made at the Summit on Food Systems and thanked the representatives of the different coalitions for their participation.
“I want to remind you that last April 4th we met to honor the commitment made at the Summit on Food Systems and articulated eight coalitions,” he said.

Within the coalitions mentioned by Blanco Peralta are: Action for Nutrition and Zero Hunger; School meals; Food Loss and Waste; Agroecology, sustainable livestock and agricultural systems; aquatic and blue foods; decent income and decent work; resilience, climate change and means of implementation: financing, innovation, technology, data and governance.
“Each of these coalitions is coordinated by one of the institutions present here and we will articulate an agenda, with the aim of achieving the National Roadmap, towards a Sustainable, Resilient and Equitable Food System”, he indicated.
The meeting, held at the National Palace, was attended by the director of the United Nations Coalitions on Food Systems, Stefanos Fotio, who explained, remotely, the work that the country is called to implement.
Similarly, it was attended by the specialist in Sustainable Environmental Management, Hubert Reyes, who presented the food networks and their link with the Roadmap on Food Systems in the Dominican Republic.
Dr. María Fulcar, from the WFP, also participated, who presented the Interinstitutional Plan of the FNG and its links, especially with coalitions related to nutrition issues. Meanwhile, Ruth Montes de Oca, from the WFP, discussed the inputs prepared for the work to follow and provided the leaders of each coalition with documents to feed the matrix that would respond to the commitments made at the Summit on Food Systems.
During the activity, the deputy minister of the Ministry of Women, Daris Sánchez, was also present, who, by way of closing, motivated the achievement of the work in progress related to food systems.
