Through its Official Gazette, the Ministry of Health announced that, from now on, it will use “inclusive language and non-sexist and inclusive communication in the productions, documents, records and administrative acts” of its dependency.
This, as reported the organism with the aim of “generating new ways of communicating that build and express equality for gender diversity”, as indicated in the document of the Ministry of Health.
The measure of Ministry of Health It also seeks to “eliminate stereotypes and prejudices related to sexual orientation and gender identity that prevent or restrict participation in public life.”
“Promote the use of non-sexist and inclusive language and communication as valid expressive forms in productions, documents, records and administrative acts of all areas of this Ministry and its agencies,” they indicated.
Under this line, this new form of expression will be reflected in “the writing of communication pieces or the generation of audiovisual content, with sensitivity and gender perspective”.
In addition, one of the objectives of this initiative is to promote “the development of actions that favor the implementation of health policies with a gender and diversity perspective.”
The document, which bears the signature of Minister Carla Vizzotti, is supported by different international human rights treaties that seek to eliminate all types of discrimination.
Why the Ministry of Health will include inclusive language in its communications
The organism pointed out that “modifying the forms of communication and institutional dynamics is also a way to accompany the transformations of sociocultural patternspromoting democratic and inclusive values”.
And it defines inclusive language as “linguistic constructions and terms expressed orally, written and/or visually that contribute to the recognition of women and LGBTI+ and that do not perpetuate body, sexual and gender stereotypes.”
