The country’s merchants asked the Government to take all prevention and control measures to guarantee the normality of economic activities in the departments affected by the armed strike that would have ended yesterday.

In a statement, the National Federation of Merchants, Fenalco, rejected acts of violence and they requested from the authorities the necessary measures so that this situation does not happen again.
The president of the union, Jaime Alberto Cabal, said that these events affect the economy and lower the spirits of citizens. “In the particular case of the merchants, they had to close their doors totally or partially within the framework of Mother’s Day, one of the most emblematic dates for Colombians.”, he commented.
He added that it is “very important to surround all economic actors and guarantee the protection of their fundamental rights.

The armed strike has affected Antioquia, Atlántico, Bolívar, Cesar, Chocó, Córdoba, Magdalena, Santander, Sucre and Norte de Santander.
