The Prime Minister of Cuba, Manuel Marrero, arrived in Venezuela at noon this Monday, to strengthen the ties of friendship and bilateral relations.
“We come to strengthen the bonds of friendship, founded and strengthened by Hugo Chavez and Fidel Castro Ruz,” said Marrero.
Upon his arrival at the Simón Bolívar International Airport of Maiquetía, the Cuban Prime Minister was received by the Vice Minister for the Caribbean, Raúl Li Causi.
At the time of his arrival, Marrero expressed the “great honor of being again in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, birthplace of the Liberator Simón Bolívar.”
He indicated that he brings with him a big hug of solidarity to the Venezuelan people, “we thank you for the condolences and accompaniment after the accident in a hotel in Havana,” he added.
On May 6, there was a strong explosion at the Hotel Saratoga, when a liquefied gas tanker truck was serving its facilities, which caused the collapse of the front and side facades of the first floors of the building and considerable damage to other nearby buildings. The accident has left as a balance, so far, 34 deaths and 85 people injured.
Marrero stated that in addition to the fraternal embrace of the Cuban people, “I bring a strong greeting from Raúl Castro Ruz and the President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel.”
“We are here to support the constitutional president, Nicolás Maduro, and the civic-military union of Venezuela, a people that, like Cuba, has been blocked, has been pressured, but has chosen to be a free, independent people with its own criteria,” al while he stressed that “Venezuela and Cuba are free peoples.”
According to a message on Twitter from the Cuban Presidency, the trip will last until this Wednesday, May 11.
