“The government of President Laurentino Cortizo must govern hand in hand with his party and consult the party in its decisions because so far, during these almost three years, that is not what has happened,” said Pedro Miguel González. , this Monday on Radio Panama, who is seeking re-election to the position of general secretary of the Democratic Revolutionary Party (PRD) for the elections on May 15 to choose the new members of the National Executive Committee (CEN).

He argued that some people think that the PRD is just an electoral machine to win elections, and it is exactly the “conception that prevails in the rest of the political parties.”

He commented that at the juncture there are leaders and figures. “At this time, the Executive has tried to impose a series of leaderships within the party, there are other well-known leaders, many of them are in the National Assembly or in local governments who have aspirations of reaching the leadership of the party, and there are those of us who are already part of the party’s leadership and we think that we must reaffirm those concepts that are raised in the 20-50 convention,” González said.
