Cuba completed a week without regretting deaths due to COVID-19according to the country’s health authorities, according to which infections remain below 200 daily in the last 10 days.
At the close of May 7, 104 infected with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus were recorded, as a result of the analysis of 5,285 samples. In this way, so far there are already 1,103,980 cases detected and 8,527 people who have died since the start of the pandemic, according to the part of the Ministry of Public Health (Minsap) published today.
In total, 2,471 patients remain hospitalized, of which 1,881 are suspected of contagion, while 25 people remain under epidemiological surveillance and 565 are confirmed active.
Of the 104 positive cases, 101 are contacts of previously confirmed patients, two arrived sick from abroad, in only one case the source of infection was not known and three patients were asymptomatic at the time of diagnosis, specifies the MINSAP.

Of the total number of new confirmed cases, 54 are female and 5th male, while by age groups, 47 are minors, 18 are between 20 and 39 years old; 16, from 40 to 59 years old; among those over 60, 23 cases were reported.
Camagüey (20), Havana (15) and Artemisa (14), were the only provinces with more than a dozen new patients, the report points out, while Santiago de Cuba and Granma had no positive cases at the end of May 7. .
It was also known that eight patients are kept in therapy rooms, four of them in critical condition and four in serious condition, while 131 medical discharges were granted on the day, which already accounts for 1,094,829 recovered patients.
