The Prosecutor's Office captured and prosecuted three alleged members of the 'Clan del Golfo'

The Attorney General’s Office announced the capture of three presumed members of the drug-trafficking wing of the ‘Gulf Clan’, who would be in charge of coordinating the acquisition and storage of narcotics and their shipment to Central American countries. Besides, they would be responsible for making death threats to families who lived in coastal areas of San Juan de Urabá, Arboletes and Necoclí, Antioquia, forcing them to leave their homes.

Carlos Roberto Izquierdo Ortegón, specialized director against criminal organizationsindicated that “at the request of a prosecutor assigned to the specialized directorate against criminal organizations, he imposed an insurance measure against three alleged members of the drug trafficker of the ‘Clan of the Gulf'”.

“The persons prosecuted are Tomás Elías Bolaño Páez, alias ‘Tiburón’, Jheim Alexander Sierra Blanco, alias ‘Jheim’ and Julio César Apolo Agamez, alias ‘Julio’“These men would be the alleged responsible for designing new routes for the shipment of narcotic substances,” he mentioned.

He also commented that these people displaced families from the coastal areas of the Uraba Antioquia to use their assets as a collection center for cocaine and used them as exit points to send shipments of cocaine to Central America.

Additionally, “there is material evidence that indicates that these people also carried out armed attacks against people who allegedly collaborated with the Public Force”, he added.

The defendants were captured by the Prosecutor’s Office and the Police in San Juan de Urabá, Antioquia and Montería, Córdoba. For these facts they were charged with the crimes of attempted aggravated homicide, aggravated conspiracy to commit a crime and forced displacement, the captured accepted charges.

In the proceedings were seized six cell phones, 6 million in cash, a motorcycle and documents with information of interest about the drug trafficking structure.
