The Renovating Democratic Union (Unamos) denounced that the relatives of political prisoners are victims of “constant harassment during visits and sexualized assaults in the search of women.” In addition, they reiterated that food and supplies continue to be rationed for the hostages of the dictatorship.
“During the last visit, their families denounce constant harassment and sexualized assaults in the search of women who visit the prisoners and political prisoners detained in El Chipote, which included touching the genial and breasts,” the organization reproached.

His relatives recently launched an SOS for the lives of his relatives and denounced with “extreme concern a generalized deterioration in health.” Likewise, they highlighted, through a virtual press conference, the existence of “a systematic policy of torture aimed at breaking their bodies and minds”, which includes confinement in punishment cells, solitary confinement, lack of food and attacks on their Health.
Through the statement they continued to add that within El Chipote there is a “lack of systematic access to health in a timely, adequate and specialized manner. Diseases and illnesses are treated until the situation worsens or reaches extremes, they are not being taken to the infirmary, they are not being given information about their weight, nor the results of the few tests that are carried out on them.
Unamos highlights that these actions are a reflection of the “consolidation of a policy of punishment and control, which seeks to silence their voices and stop demanding their rights.”
According to relatives, medical problems are more acute in prisoners who suffer from chronic illnesses, who are older or who require specialized medical care. “We have identified a pattern of misdiagnosis, overmedication and/or inappropriate or contraindicated medication. This situation is causing worsening of diseases, allergies and even first and second degree burns.

Unamos also emphasized that “basic toiletries are being limited. The consolidation of a policy of punishment and control to silence the demands for their rights is observed. They are slowly killing them.”
Likewise, they explained that several of the inmates of the Ortega-Murillo dictatorship are suffering from skin problems, “acquired by the absolutely unsanitary conditions in which they find themselves, which caused fungal infections, eczema and even depigmentation.”
