He recalled that even the forest fires generated in other parts of the center of the country or the emissions from the refinery in Tula, Hidalgo, can affect Mexico City.
“In the atmosphere, there are no borders; It is not that pollutants are emitted here and stay here, there is a very large dispersion of pollutants throughout the Metropolitan Zone and even in the Central zone. Indeed, it is a metropolitan phenomenon; and it is also important, because there is also contamination in the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area, there is also contamination in the Monterrey Metropolitan Area.” she explained.
He added that the atmospheric network that contemplates the measurement of pollutant emissions in the 16 mayor’s offices and in 59 municipalities of the State of Mexico, are in charge of Mexico City.
“So, yes, there should be cooperation so that there are more measurements, but also that there is a shared cost,” he said.
