With that in mind, traders returned to buying, which boosted the price to the day’s highs. The dollar lost some steam in the course of trading, as the stock exchanges in New York left the lowest levels of the session.

The Ibovespa, the main index of the Brazilian stock market, ended the week with a slight decline, in a trading session that alternated highs and lows, and with the market also influenced by the employment numbers in the United States.

The index fell 0.16% to 105,134.73 points, down 2.5% on the week, the fifth straight weekly low. The last time the index had such a long streak of pullbacks was from September to October 2020; before that, the longest sequence had been recorded between May and June 2018. The financial volume of the session was 31.7 billion reais.

On Wall Street, the main stock indexes fell between 0.3% and 1.4%, also in a volatile session.
