López Obrador maintains his visit to Cuba after the explosion at the Saratoga hotel

The Government of Mexico expressed its solidarity in the face of the explosion recorded this Friday at the Saratoga hotel in Havana, which left at least 18 dead, including a child, and 64 wounded. “Our solidarity to victims and affected as well as to the people of that endearing brother town”, wrote on his Twitter account Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard. “The tour is proceeding as planned.”

The spokesman for the Mexican Presidency, Jesús Ramírez Cuevas, confirmed before going to La Aurora airport in Guatemala that they were waiting for more information about the causes of the outbreak, but López Obrador’s arrival in Cuba is scheduled for Saturday.

An explosion that reduced the store located in the lower part of the building to rubble and damaged the structure of the Baptist Church El Calvario located on the side of the five-star building that would reopen on May 10. Among the concerns is knowing the status of the injured, the causes of the explosion and the names of the victims. And some concerts have been suspended until further notice as a show of solidarity with the victims.

Through its Facebook account, the Martí theater expressed its “heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims of the unfortunate accident” that occurred at the Saratoga hotel. And as part of this, he reported that all his shows and concerts were “suspended until further notice.” And he specified that the return of tickets for the show Requiem, Sià Karà, this Friday at six in the afternoon will be reported soon.

“At this time, the Directorate of the Theater, its technical staff, together with directors and specialists from our Office of the Historian of the City of Havana, Cuba, are evaluating the damage and effects that we have received,” he posted on Facebook.

Maykel Blanco Y Su Salsa Mayor also expressed his regret for what happened in Old Havana. “Tomorrow’s concert for the Cuban Son Day is postponed… our most sincere condolences to the deceased and speedy recovery to the injured.”

The singer Dianelys Alfonso Cartaya, better known as The Cuban Goddesspostponed the release of the song 40 pounds which was scheduled for this Sunday. “We sympathize with the relatives of the fatal victims, reach all of them with the most sincere condolences”, posted.
