Vice President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner stated that she feels “part of a collective project that accomplished a feat after the 2001 crisis” and recalled that, after three terms in office, the people bid farewell to Kirchnerism with a square full “from boat to boat”, while toasting in the city of Endurance a paper on “State, power and society”, after receive the honorary doctorate cause of the National University of Chaco Austral (Uncaus).
In government “there is no fight but discussion of ideas”, assured the former president when referring to journalistic speculation about an alleged tension with President Alberto Fernández. “What is happening in the Executive Power is not a fight; I did not hit anyone, nobody hit me,” Cristina said, joking that she had resorted to the dictionary to frame the situation, which, she assured, is a debate”.
He also recalled that having chosen Alberto Fernández to head the formula for the Frente de Todos in the 2019 elections was “an intelligent act” and assured that “never” made “a decision from the hormones, if from the neurons”
Regarding the present, the former president said that “The main problem that Argentina has is the bi-monetary economy” that demands dollars that the country needs, and considered that this issue must be resolved “with a great political agreement.”
Fernández de Kirchner also claimed the role of the State for the development of the “deep country” and differentiated the “merit” of the effort with the idea of ”meritocracy.”
“Those who have not seen the difficulties of families in the deep country for their children to study… It is very difficult to assess from the large urban centers to the places, where if the State does not arrive with its decision, there are no opportunities“said the Vice President.
He also considered that capitalism became “a system of production of goods and services that is independent of ideologies” and highlighted the production system implemented by China as one of the “most successful” models.
Along these lines, he stated that “Capitalism goes where it earns money and where it suits it” and warned that “it is not a question of ideologies” or “international” positions. The Vice President gave as an example the development generated in the People’s Republic of China in the last 70 years and ironized: “There is a catchphrase that says that investments go where there is legal security. Hello, how are you? The largest investments in recent decades by globalized companies around the world are in China“.
Fernández de Kirchner also denounced that “when a ruler wants to enforce a law, a precautionary measure from the Judicial Power appears to prevent it,” and stressed that the decree that establishes that the Internet must be an essential public service cannot yet be complied with because “sleep in court”.
Along these lines, he considered that “something like this has never been seen” in a Court that declares a law “unconstitutional” after 16 years of validity, in relation to the ruling that annulled the formation of the Judicial Council, and affirmed that “in power it suits him” a maximum court with few members to “squeeze them with the covers of the newspapers”.
In another passage, he affirmed that if he had to choose a Constitution from those that governed Argentina, he would stay with “the one of 1853”, although he clarified that the one he liked the most was the one sanctioned in 1949 under the Government of Juan Domingo Perón. The vice president also pointed out that “some things have to be reviewed” with the aim of solve “a phenomenon that is taking place in Argentina”, whereby “workers in a dependency relationship are poor”.
“This had never happened; poverty was always placed outside of formal work. Why is this?” the Vice President asked herself during the act in Resistencia, Chaco.
Fernandez de Kirchner He questioned the opposition for promoting a project for the use of a single paper ballot in voting, considering that “society” has more important problems, such as “they don’t have a job and they don’t have enough money.”
The ceremony takes place in the Gala Convention Hall of the capital of Chaco, in which Cristina Kirchner offers a doctoral paper entitled ‘State, Power and Society: democratic dissatisfaction’, as determined by the current regulations of the University, after receive the symbols of their distinction: the academic title, a stole and a medal.
In a press conference held days ago, the rector of Uncaus, Germán Oestmann, and the vice-rector, Manuel García Sola, said that the Superior Council of the university unanimously resolved to award the former president of the Nation with its highest academic distinction, the honorary doctorate.
