presidential candidate Gustavo Petro He appeared again on the platforms and resumed his campaign in the north of Colombia, after assuring that it had been affected by threats against his life.
In the midst of his passage through Cucuta (North of Santander)the candidate, who wore a bulletproof vest, protective shields and was accompanied by escorts in the middle of his speech, spoke of his proposals in case of reaching the presidency.

Also wearing a vest alluding to the colors of Cúcuta Deportivo, the candidate addressed his supporters concentrated in the Natilán sector of the Juan Atalay citadel. There, among his government proposals, Petro highlighted that among his projections in case he becomes the new president, he contemplates reestablishing diplomatic relations with the Venezuela from Nicholas Maduro.
It should be noted that since 2019, these relations were broken by order of Maduro, after the opposition leader Juan Guaidó attempted to enter Venezuela through the border with Colombia.

In this sense, the candidate expressed his intentions to reopen the border with Venezuela -which has been closed since 2015- in order to improve the conditions of this sector of the country. This, taking into account that the north of Colombia is one of the points where the most Venezuelan migrants live.
“I have to tell you that Cúcuta cannot be a city, it cannot prosper, it cannot overcome problems without opening the borders”the candidate began by saying in this regard and added: “I do not see an alternative for Cúcuta if there is no full reestablishment of diplomatic and consular relations between the two countries. If Petro is elected president, we will reestablish diplomatic and consular relations with the Republic of Venezuela “.
After his agenda for Cúcuta and only days before the presidential elections, the candidate would continue his campaign for Valledupar, on Saturday he would arrive in Bolívar and on Sunday he would visit Chocó.
