Federico González, Minister of the Interior, reported during an interview for Ñanduti AM, that Cynthia Tarragó, no relative of hers or any other person, on her behalf, requested protection from the National Police.
This, after rumors that the former deputy would have provided data for the development of the “Operation Extreme” that dismantled part of organizations dedicated to organized crime.
Tarragó was in prison in the United States after a money laundering case. But of a sentence expectation of 20 years, he received only 3. Therefore, it is presumed that the politician and journalist would have provided data to reduce his sentence.
“It is a situation that is constantly being evaluated. But there is no request. There is nothing specific about his case (regarding possible dangers from intelligence data),” she stated.
He argued that it is analyzed on a case-by-case basis. And that the National Police Command will make the decision to protect it if any special circumstance arises.
Regarding the lack of prevention, the minister affirmed that he does not want to delve into the subject because it could alter the peace of the Tarragó family.
“The police are evaluating the situation. But there are things that I do not want to share, ”she concluded.
