According to a report published by the Government, so far in 2022, Itaipu Binacional transferred 145 million dollars to the Paraguayan State, for compliance with obligations established in Annex C of the Treaty. Disbursements correspond to royalties, transfer of energy and payments to the National Electricity Administration (ANDE).
The report published by the state digital IP, indicates that from January to April, the Entity remitted 65 million dollars for royalties and 53 million dollars for transfer of energy to the National Treasury. For its part, ANDE received 27 million dollars for compensation for administration charges and capital profits.
These figures come from the report of the Financial Directorate, Right Bank, of Itaipu.
In what corresponds only to the transfers made in the fourth month of the year, it is broken down that the royalties totaled 15 million dollars, the payment for transfer of energy reached 12 million dollars, while the disbursements in favor of ANDE meant 23 millions of dollars.
It should be remembered that the royalties constitute a financial compensation received by the States of Paraguay and Brazil for the use of the hydraulic potential of the Paraná River for the production of electrical energy in the Itaipu dam. The transfer of energy is the compensation paid by the Brazilian State to access the plot of production that Paraguay does not use. These two concepts are transferred to the Ministry of Finance, an institution in charge of distributing the resources, as established by national legislation.
For its part, ANDE receives monthly payments for reimbursement of charges and, periodically, it also receives income from capital gains to meet its budgetary needs, as provided in Annex C of the Treaty of the Entity. IP.
