The Public Defender’s Office (DPU) took another step this Thursday (5) towards having its own staff. By 294 votes to 10, the Bill 7922/14 establishing the body’s career plan was approved by the plenary of the Chamber of Deputies. The matter goes to the Senate.
In addition to structuring the agency’s career plan and setting the value of the remuneration of civil servants, the text authorizes the creation of 410 analyst positions and 401 technical positions at the DPU. The project also provides that higher and intermediate-level positions from other federal government agencies (General Plan for Executive Power Positions – PGPE) will be redistributed to the DPU.
The idea is that members of these positions can replace the other two positions, when they are vacant. “It is good to remember that the DPU takes care of almost three million causes and the most needy people. So, this House, with this bill, will be able to reorganize the DPU”, said the rapporteur of the matter, deputy Celina Leão (PP-DF).
