Santo Domingo.- The Minister of Education, Science and Technology (MESCyT), Franklin García Fermín, reported this Wednesday that the country’s medical schools already have international accreditation.

According to García Fermín, for 17 years the country’s universities have not received this type of approval.

“Yesterday we were accredited and we achieved it unanimously, it was a very tough process, but we did it. Medical schools in the Dominican Republic are already certified, which means we can receive foreign medical students and send Dominicans to the United States,” he explained.

Participating in the Weekly Lunch of the Corripio Communications Group, García Fermín said that since 2005 the country had lost that certification.

“Since 2005, the Dominican Republic did not have this approval and yesterday, after more than a year working, accreditation was achieved. This certification places the country in a prestigious position at the international level”, he expressed.
