Solar energy should account for 17% of the Brazilian matrix by 2023

The Minister of Mines and Energy, Bento Albuquerque, said today (5) that by 2031, solar energy should be responsible for 17% of the Brazilian matrix. According to the minister, photovoltaic sources currently account for 7.7% of the electricity generated in the country.Solar energy should account for 17% of the Brazilian matrix by 2023

“Last year, distributed generation in Brazil was the fourth in growth in the world, surpassed only by countries like the United States, China and India. I think we are very well positioned”, added the minister when speaking at the opening of a seminar promoted by the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel). Distributed generation is the form of energy production made, in general, by consumers themselves, such as residences or companies that have plates for solar energy generation.

In relation to wind energy, Bento Albuquerque explained that the forecast is to maintain over the next decade the percentage of 11% of presence in the country’s energy matrix. “Wind generation has grown 330% since 2014. And it is currently responsible for more than 11% of our electricity matrix”.

Auction

Albuquerque confirmed that the concession auction for the construction of lines and energy transmission facilities should take place in June. 13 lots covering 13 states will be auctioned, with a forecast of R$ 15.3 billion in investments and the installation of 4.5 thousand kilometers of transmission lines.
