The penultimate day of the regular phase of the Professional League Cup of Argentine football continued this Friday with the triumph of the two teams from La Plata: Students won 2-1 against Aldosivi and Gym thrashed Patronato 0-6 at home in Paraná.
Students closed a perfect week with their 2-1 victory against Aldosivi that allowed them to secure first place in Group 2 of the championship with 28 points, thanks to goals from Uruguayan Manuel Castro and Paraguayan Jorge Morel, while Marcelo Meli converted for a team from Mar del Plata that complicated their aspirations to reach the quarterfinals.
In the other duel this Friday, Gimnasia won 0-6 against Patronato in Paraná with goals from Uruguayan Brahian Aleman (2), Cristian Tarragona (2), Colombian Johan Carbonero and Eric Ramírez.
With this victory, the ‘Lobo’ reached 21 points and equaled the line of Sarmiento de Junín and Argentinos Juniors in a Zone 1 that on Wednesday had already recorded the 1-2 victory of San Lorenzo over Newell’s Old Boys, in Rosario.
This Saturday there will be seven games with three highlights: Racing’s presentation against Banfield, River’s visit to Sarmiento de Junín and Boca Juniors’ duel against Barracas Central. The top four from each zone will advance to the quarterfinals, which will be played in a single match.
