Álvarez has remained as president of the VOC since 2006, after more than four re-elections. For the 2018-2021 period, he said that his proposal was “to work on two clear proposals: the sustainability of the sport and the education and training of our technicians. With that, plus the support of our allies, we hope to continue developing the sport in Venezuela.”
Has been critical of the management of the Ministry of Sport since 2017because he assures that this portfolio should only be dedicated to sports “and not as a youth ministry because there they have culture, art, music, dance, the street, youth work and other programs.”
