Yesterday (3), in addition to determining that the deputy continues to use the equipmentMinister Alexandre de Moraes imposed a fine of R$ 405 thousand for the disuse of the electronic anklet, the blocking of the deputy’s bank accounts and sending an official letter to the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira, for the discount to be made in the parliamentary salary.

In a document attached to the process that deals with precautionary measures, a STF justice official reported that she went to the Chamber of Deputies this morning to summon the deputy, who refused to receive the warrant with Moraes’ decision.

“When I found him and identified me as a Justice officer of the STF – he refused to receive the warrant and also stated that he will no longer wear an ankle bracelet, as he is complying with the decree of the President of the Republic. I return this warrant, submitting this certificate to superior appreciation”, wrote the official when returning the warrant to Minister Alexandre de Moraes.

In the decision handed down yesterday, Alexandre de Moraes stated that Silveira disrespected the monitoring measures 27 times when he stopped carrying the equipment.

“The conduct of the defendant, who insists on disrespecting the precautionary measures imposed in these records and endorsed by the plenary of the STF reveals his complete contempt for the Judiciary, behavior verified on several occasions during the course of this criminal action and which justified the setting of a daily fine to ensure due compliance with the decisions of this Court”, Moraes said in the sentence.

On the 21st of April, a President Jair Bolsonaro’s Decree granted constitutional grace to the federal deputy, sentenced the day before by the Supreme to 8 years and 9 months in prison LINK 3 for the crimes of attempting to prevent the free exercise of powers and coercion in the course of the process.

In addition to the prison sentence, the deputy was sentenced by the STF to loss of mandate., the temporary suspension of political rights and the payment of a R$ 200 thousand fine for the conviction. However, the sentences will not be served immediately because there is still an appeal.
