The President of the Council of Ministers, Hannibal Torresassured that in the meeting he held with the former Secretary General of the Government Palace, Bruno Pachecooccurred without the knowledge of President Pedro Castillo and that there were no witnesses to said meeting.
Speaking to the Oversight and Comptroller Commission, the chief of staff said that their meeting was held to find out if the $20,000 found in the bathroom of the Government Palace had an illicit origin.
“I met with Bruno Pacheco on a street in San Borja, at that moment he got into the car and I told him ‘what happened to the 20 thousand dollars’, He tells me that he has withdrawn that money from the bank and that he has the bank receipt”, express.
“He tells me that he gave the money to his lawyer, he says that the money was in his bathroom cabinet. He told me that he didn’t have a job and I told him that he couldn’t work in the state after what had happened. […] The president did not know about the meeting”, he added.

At another point, he explained that he wanted to know the origin of this money because, if he revealed that it was illicit, he would have resigned from the Ministry of Justice, which he chaired at the time.
He also stated that their meeting took place in a “particular” manner and not in his role as a member of the Cabinet.
