The Ministry of Sciencethrough the National Agency for the Promotion of Research, Technological Development and Innovation (R+D+i Agency) will finance 3 projects for the production of medicines.
The initiatives that are directed by the Center of Excellence in Processes and Products of Córdoba (CEPROCOR), will have an investment of Ministry of Science of more than 100 million pesos, as confirmed wallet.
The R+D+i Agency, dependent on the Ministry of Sciencewill support these initiatives within the framework of the call for Strategic Projects Public Production of Medicines by the Argentine Sectorial Fund (FONARSEC).
The first initiative will be aimed at the modernization and regulatory adaptation of the CEPROCOR Pharmaceutical plant, with which a production plant for nano or micro technological injectable medicinal specialties will be adapted.
This, given under the regulations of the National Administration of Medicines, Food and Medical Technology (ANMAT), for which new state-of-the-art production technologies will be implemented.
The second project is called Formulations of sodium phenylbutyrate, which will be developed in support of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the Faculty of Chemical Sciences of the National University of Córdoba.
The researchers seek to develop an injectable, oral and tablet drug containing sodium phenylbutyrate (FBS), which is used “for the removal of ammonia from the body in people with metabolic disorders.”
This, given that the drug, despite having a high demand, is not produced in the country, so the main objective will be to produce it on an industrial scale in the laboratories of the National Agency of Public Laboratories (Anlap).
The Ministry of Science will invest in a project to treat tuberculosis
The last project that will have the support of science portfolio, will be the formulation of an effective treatment for tuberculosisthis in order to develop a product of national origin.
It should be remembered that the R+D+i Agency that “aims to promote the production of medicines and other technologies that allow us to cover strategic health needs of our country” according to the ministry.
