#FreeZone | Adan Augusto, the chosen one of the president

#FreeZone | Mexico and our social duel

In a political party as divided as Morena, the fact that Augusto joins other contenders could do too much damage. The internal struggles between the morenista hosts are already working from sunrise to sunset to reach maximum power. It is no secret to anyone that Marcelo Ebrard and Claudia Sheinbaum are stuck on their way to the National Palace.

Now they have a new stone on the road: Adan Augusto.

In front of the federal deputies of Morena, Andrés Manuel uncovered his countryman, as an applicant, and now considered the strongest. Things have changed in the race and the president has made it clear that he will not allow him to be “loose” on the issue of succession from him.

If the elections were today, Morena would have no problem retaking the presidency. However, it seems that the leftist parties in Mexico have the intention of destroying themselves and the division that they commonly cause has made their mission vulnerable and they do not achieve their greater goal.

López Obrador tried again and again for the presidency, until he succeeded and from then on he has tried to distance himself even from his own party, seeing the internal quarrels. Now, the president pays for that disunity, by raising his arm to Adán Augusto, who does not have the political capital and the sufficient team to put together a candidacy today.

The current Secretary of the Interior has managed to position himself as the president’s bishop. First, defending the Felipe Ángeles airport tooth and nail; then, traveling the country to support the president in the failed revocation of mandate.

For some, Adam’s uncovering is merely a red herring. But it goes further. López Obrador knows perfectly well that his government is on the verge of a sunset and it is time to defend his regime. Would Ebrard or Sheinbaum do it?

The card he bets on is from someone very close to him, a person who has not only the iron will to defend himself, but also his political legacy.

It is interesting to delve into these last days of the most voted president in history. Well, the fall from power is an outstanding issue, how much more so that of a man who sought the presidency for more than 18 years. Isn’t the crisis control that he has had to exercise interesting?
