The Executive Branch declared a state of emergency for 60 calendar days in the provinces of Coronel Portillo, Atalaya, Padre Abad and Purús, in the Ucayali region.
Supreme Decree No. 046-2022-PCM, published this Wednesday in the Legal Norms of the Official Gazette “El Peruano”, states that the measure has the “object of executing actions to combat and neutralize criminal actions that affect the normal development of activities and adopt the constitutionally provided measures, in order to safeguard internal order, as well as preserve the constitutional rights of the population”.

The rule indicates that during the emergency period the National Police will maintain control of internal order, with the support of the Armed Forces.
In addition, the constitutional rights related to the inviolability of the home, freedom of movement within the national territory, freedom of assembly, and personal freedom and security are suspended.
The intervention of the National Police and the Armed Forces will be carried out in accordance with the provisions of Legislative Decree No. 1186, which regulates the use of police force, and Legislative Decree No. 1095, which establishes rules of employment and use of the force by the Armed Forces.
The supreme decree bears the signature of President Pedro Castillo; the head of the Ministerial Cabinet, Aníbal Torres; and the Ministers of the Interior, Alfonso Chávarry, and of Justice and Human Rights, Félix Chero.
