Defense Minister, Edmundo Novillo, announced this Tuesday “surprise operations” to seize ‘chuto’ cars and anticipated drastic sanctions to public officials who are involved in irregular acts.
The authority, in a press conference, highlighted that During the first four months of this administration, almost a thousand undocumented motorists were kidnapped. and revealed that the smugglers use new routes on the border to enter the vehicles.
“In places where chuto cars are sold, we will carry out surprise operations to seize those undocumented vehiclesthere are some places where action is needed,” explained the headline.
He emphasized that any public servant, from whatever institution, who is involved in smuggling activities will be drastically sanctioned, before the scandal that involves police chiefs with the possession of motorcycles stolen in Chile.

“If officials, public servants, Our Government will drastically assume the actions to sanction with all the rigor of the lawbecause it is not possible that our military brothers are risking their lives, they tell us that they use excessive force, but the fight against smuggling has these risks and problems, the new plans will be to locate these access points through which these vehicles,” he said.
Novillo advanced the increase in troops assigned to the fight against this crime, at the same time as assuming other types of actions, which he did not detail, but which will be aimed at “surprising the smugglers”.
