With a roadmap, the first offshore wind project starts

The 34 points to develop to have offshore wind plants

With the launch of the Offshore Wind Energy Roadmap, which was developed with the support of the UK government and the Latin America program of the International Energy Agency (IEA)begins the era of offshore wind projects in shallow waters of the Caribbean Sea.

(The 34 points to develop to have offshore wind plants).

Thus, the first offshore wind energy project will be carried out in Barranquilla with an investment of more than 1 billion dollars and will have an installed capacity of more than 200 MW of installed capacity.

The development of this roadmap will have the participation of international experts from the energy sector such as Joerg Husar, manager of the Latin America program of the International Energy Agency (IEA).

It should be remembered that the Offshore Wind Energy Roadmap was carried out in association with the World Bank and had the participation of the United Kingdom Government through the Renewables Consulting Group, which developed the plan. Globally, the UK has one of the largest offshore wind energy sectors, therefore it has much to offer to help unlock Colombia’s offshore wind potential..

“We are pioneers in the growing offshore wind industry by combining our unprecedented knowledge of the global industry with a project development approach focused on the local level, in the creation of alliances and the generation of dialogue with all the parts. BlueFloat Energy is the ally that Colombia needs to meet its goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions between 20% and 51% before 2030”, said Carlos Martin, CEO of BlueFloat Energy.

And his objective of this roadmap was to identify the opportunities and barriers that Colombia has for the development of offshore wind energy. In addition, it is estimated that Colombia has a potential of 50 GW with offshore wind projects, which can bring important investments to the country of the order of 27 billion dollars, leverage different links in the supply chain and promote port development.
