The president of the Republic, Pedro Castillo Terronesargued this Monday that the new Labor Code must be a reality for all workers.
During the award ceremony of the Labor Order 2022 to various characters, the president asked that this initiative be made effective because, according to what he said, it had been postponed.
“Madam Minister (of Labor, Betssy Chávez), we have to make this postponed Labor Code effective, and it has to be a reality for all workers in the countryCastle said.

A few days ago, the Minister of Labor and Employment Promotion (MTPE), Betssy Chávezindicated that the draft of the Work code is in the stage of socialization of its content, in order to make it known and collect contributions within a period of 20 calendar days, counted from April 13.
Then, as he said, will come the stage of systematization of contributions and the final approval in Congress.
What does the Labor Code consist of?
The draft of the Work code is a proposal of PEMT for updating various labor laws.
In total, it has 463 articles that include modifications such as the elimination of the cap on severance pay, the restriction of outsourcing in core business activities, the elimination of three temporary hiring modalities, among others.
The measure will be debated in the National Labor Council (CNT) and once approved there it will be presented to the Congress of the Republic.
According to the Ministry of Labor, about 40% of the content (178 articles) of the preliminary draft of the Labor Code, were already agreed on a tripartite basis in the National Council for Labor and Employment Promotion (CNTPE) and in the previous projects of the General Law of work.
