The Summit of the Americas to be held in June will not have the governments of Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela as guests, after the United States ruled out inviting them considering that they do not respect democracy.
The information was issued by the US Undersecretary for Latin America and the Caribbean, Brian Nichols, in an interview for NTN24, “Cuba, Nicaragua and the Nicolás Maduro regime do not respect the democratic charter of the Americas and therefore I do not expect their presence” .
The official stressed that the president of the United States (USA) Joe Biden, “has been very clear that countries that do not respect democracy are not going to receive his invitation” to the summit, which will bring together heads of state and government of the region.
