Margarita says the health system is in intensive care

Margarita Cedeño dice sistema sanitario está en cuidados intensivos

The Roman.- The former vice president of the Republic and presidential candidate for the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), Margarita Cedeño, said that public health is abandoned by government authorities, to the point that she is in a state of intensive care.

Cedeño indicated that the vulnerable segments of the population are the ones that suffer the most from the obvious shortcomings in this essential public service.

The also member of the Political Committee issued these considerations during a tour she made through the province of La Romana, where she listened to the needs of the population in that demarcation, who expressed the hardships they are currently experiencing.

“This happens despite the announcement of making more than two billion pesos available through the Development and Export Bank (BANDEX) to strengthen the private health sector, while this province has the Arístides Fiallo Cabral hospital, the maternal Francisco A. Gonzalvo, the Guaymate Hospital, the primary care centers and the 911 service practically disabled”, observed Cedeño.

He indicated that, in the same way, at the national level in the first level centers, most of the human resources were disassociated, and there are not enough professionals to attend to the patients.
Health is totally deteriorated, he added, and the authorities do not pay attention to hospitals, with appointed human resources, they do not go to work due to lack of management.
He specified that the sensitivity has been lost, “so we need to return the commitment to the health sector.”

911 system
The PLD presidential candidate also said that the 911 system should be prioritized by the government, as one of the best tools to provide security to the population.

“This government does not hurt this province (La Romana) or any other in the country, it does not care for the health of its inhabitants. I wouldn’t be surprised if they soon announce the privatization of the public 911 emergency service, ″ he said.

He referred from the beginning of the current government management “has frustrated this service, which has saved so many lives, is suffering serious deterioration, with a shortage of medical supplies and going late to emergencies.”

He assured that he will work for the welfare of the people of the Dominican people, guaranteeing sustained economic and social development throughout the country.
